In 2013 the Government established the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund) with an allocation of $500 million to alleviate poverty and social exclusion as well as foster the well-being and cohesion of the society by promoting social innovation and nurturing social entrepreneurship. Established as a Trust Fund under the Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated, the Fund is overseen by the Commissioner for Efficiency. An SIE Fund Task Force was set up under the Commission on Poverty in late 2012 to provide advice on all policies and procedures governing the operation of the Fund and matters relating to the administration of the Fund.
