The Efficiency Office Volunteer Team – Participated in “Model and Capacity Building for Intergenerational Digital Literacy Training for Older Adults in Hong Kong” and assisted in promoting inter-generational digital inclusion

The Efficiency Office Volunteer Team turned out again on 4 March 2023. We participated in the “Model and Capacity Building for Intergenerational Digital Literacy Training for Older Adults in Hong Kong”, a digital training activity for the elderly organised by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies, as Young Teaching Assistants to support tutors in teaching senior participants to use digital wallet mobile applications.

 

Our volunteers assisted more than ten senior participants during the training activity. All of the volunteers and senior participants participated earnestly throughout the two-hour activity in a lively atmosphere. Inter-generation inclusion was exemplified by the interaction between young teachers and elderly students. Our volunteers were greatly encouraged to see that after the training, the senior participants had acquired the skills in using these applications in their daily lives.

Through this activity, volunteers made good use of their digital knowledge to help the elderly increase their understanding and adoption of digital technology, contributing to promoting inter-generational digital inclusion. We will keep up and continue to participate in volunteer programmes to show loving care for those in need!
